This annual event that brings all men in the diocese together for prayer, took place  on the 19th of  October, 2024, at St Joseph's Cathedral, Ngong town.

This years event was carried out with a difference as it started at 10am with talks from two speakers on the issues affecting men, namely mental health and financial health

The first speaker, Dr Alfred, gave the causes of mental illness with various examples familiar to men, and said that our past life has had a contribution to our current mental state. We should be aware and understand how we have been affected thereby take steps to not only correct our situations but also ensure we do not transmit the same to our families. Men must be a source of guidance inspite of the challenges.

On men's financial health, the CEO of Caritas Micro Finance Bank (MFB), Mr David Mukaru gave the prevailing financial statistics. He informed the congregation that only 32% of the Kenyan population were fiancially literate, our savings culture in Kenya stood at 13% as opposed to that of our neighbours in Tanzania and Uganda which both had rats of over 20%. He also said that 32% of Kenyans are listed in the Credit Rating Bureaus (CRB) 30% of which were listed negatively.

The CEO of Caritas MFB assured men that they were ready to work with men in Ngong Diocese to give financial literacy, guidance and loans n order to tap the vast resources which were largely underutilized, as a result of lack of capital. He spoke of a arish development model being developed so that economic well being around the parishes could be improved

The main celebrant His Grace, Bishop John Oballa Owaa started the Holy mass at 11am, where in his homily said that we have all failed to own up to Jesus all the time by not following on group ideas by, for example, not guiding where we ought to,failure to forgive e.t.c.

We must allow the holy spirit to be our strength and wisdom while realizing that the holyspirit delights in staying wih us, and will never leave us as orphans. We must live in readiness to be reconciled with the holy spirit, which Jesus promised us to be our helper, in order to gain peace of mind. By repentance,i.e sacrament of confession, we are able to reconcile with God , ourselves and others.

Men have the tendancy to keep things to themselves and were urged to use the men's groups and relationships formed therein, to discuss those issues they were facing to first of all for therapeutic (stress reducing) reasons, then for getting solutions from others who have already passed through similar challenges.
